About Landscape in Morning Fog: "Landscape in Morning Fog" by Ferdinand von Wright is a serene and atmospheric painting that beautifully captures a tranquil morning scene. The painting portrays a still, fog-laden environment where nature quietly awakens. In the foreground, a traditional wooden sailboat rests gently on calm waters, its reflection almost perfectly mirrored, contributing to a sense of stillness and depth. To the right, a rustic wooden cabin partially obscured by a lush, green tree suggests a quiet, rural life, nestled close to the water's edge. In the background, the fog softens the landscape, blending the water with the sky and the distant trees, creating a harmonious and muted palette. This scene is further enriched with wildlife, as a few ducks calmly float near the shore, adding life to the otherwise still morning. // Image Credit: Ferdinand von Wright, Finnish National Gallery / Hannu Pakarinen

Today we're visiting the Aqueduct in Arcueil, a commune in the Val-de-Marne department in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. The name Arcueil means "place of the arches" (Latin radical arcus, "arch", and Celtic suffix -ialo, "place of"), in reference to the Roman aqueduct carrying water to the Roman city of Lutetia (modern Paris). Between 1613 and 1624 a bridge-aqueduct over 400 meters long was constructed to bring water from the spring of Rungis, south of Arcueil, across the Bievre river to the Luxembourg Palace in Paris. Between 1868 and 1872 another aqueduct was superimposed above the previous one, forming part of the system bringing water from the river Vanne to Paris. This puzzle is based on a 1874 painting by Jean Baptiste Armand Guillaumin.
