In a Roman Osteria

This new puzzle is based on the "In a Roman Osteria" painting by the Danish painter Carl Bloch. This painting was inspired by a similar painting by his teacher, Wilhelm Marstrand (1810-1873); specifically his beautiful "Italian Osteria Scene" from 1848. The painting was commissioned by the merchant Moritz G. Melchior and it was painted in 1866. Moritz is included in the background of the painting. The man in the white shirt looking around at the viewer is Bloch himself.

Carolina Parrots

The cute parrots featured in today's puzzle were native to the eastern, Midwest and plains states of the United States. They are now extinct. These small green neotropical parrots with bright yellow heads, reddish orange faces and pale beak were one of only three parrot species native to the United States. They used to live in forests along rivers and in swamps.

Village

This fun a challenging puzzle is based on paper print made in the 1800's. It depicts a view of a village street. In the foreground you can see a shepherd and his flock of sheep, a boy and his two horses pulling a plow, a school house with children and their teacher in the left corner and a lot of other interesting details of how live looked in a small village in the 1800s.

Soap Bubbles

Today's puzzle is based on a painting by Jean Simeon Chardin. In the painting Chardin depicts two young boys on a window sill. The older one blows a soap bubble out the window while the younger one sits by his side and watches.

Ocelot

In today's puzzle we feature a beautiful illustration of an ocelot. If you didn't know, ocelots (Leopardus pardalis) are medium-sized wild cats found in the Americas. They have a sleek, slender body with yellowish-brown fur and distinctive dark rosettes and spots. They are nocturnal and live in various habitats, including tropical forests, scrublands, and grasslands. They are very agile animals and can easily climb trees and swim across rivers and lakes.
